Established in 2014, ABC BootCamps (formerly known as ABC Business Academy) was created to close the gap between traditional education and the requirements of the corporate world. By offering short summer educational programs in exciting locations, where emphasis is put on experience-based learning and practical knowledge. The goal of the program is to bring together aspiring and determined young people and make them gain practical knowledge by visiting top-notch companies and making them see how success is made first-hand.

One of the two programs offered by ABC BootCamps is ABC Silicon Valley, the other being ABC Toronto. Silicon Valley is the central region for high technology and innovation, situated in California. It is home to many of the world’s largest tech corporations and the main focus of the BootCamp. During the summer school in Silicon Valley, participants visit leading tech companies, gain insight into their practices, and learn how to take advantage of current trends. In addition, they develop an elevator pitch for their startup and present it to an expert jury! One of our ESN volunteers, Ivan Radojčić, had the opportunity to take part in the ABC experience.

I initially found out about ABC BootCamps through my faculty, they were promoting the program. I have never visited North America before and I wanted to experience it. The application process was really easy, we just had a short interview, a few questions and I just had to send in some required information for the program, it was not a hassle at all, said Ivan.

When asked to describe his experience in just one word, his choice word was - crazy. It was crazy because it was my first time travelling across and seeing America and everything that it has to offer firsthand, meeting people from all around the world that were passionate about the same things as me and just having a great time.

Some of the key skills which Ivan gained from the experience were entrepreneurship, presentation skills and presenting your ideas, putting them forward, developing your ideas to the point you can feel sure and come out in front of the investors and be certain that it is gonna work out, and teamwork, working in an international environment.

As his favourite experience, he chose to tell us the story of the Santa Cruz trip; just driving down to Santa Cruz beach from San Jose where we were situated during the program, spending half the day on the beach, having some drinks, laying in the sand, dipping in the ocean, it was a dreamy California experience.

Sounds interesting? There is still time to apply for the Summer 2025 programmes! Early bird signups last until 31st of January! What are you waiting for? See you there!
